A dynamic capital city

Tirana is the vibrant capital and largest city of Albania, known for its energy, cultural life, and warm hospitality. The city’s origins date back to 1614, when Sulejman Pashë Bargjini built the first mosque, bathhouse, and public stove, laying the foundations of the city. Tirana became the provisional capital of Albania in 1920 and the definitive capital in 1925. Over the years, Italian architects influenced the city’s design, including the construction of the main boulevard, Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit, and Skanderbeg Square, the heart of the city.

Visitors can explore many historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, and the mosaic of the Roman villa dating back to Emperor Justinian’s era. The city also hosts a network of museums and galleries, including the National History Museum, National Archaeological Museum, National Art Gallery, and private collections like the Mezuraj Museum. 

Nearby castles, such as Petrela and Preza, and natural attractions like Pëllumbas Cave and Shkalla e Tujanit, provide excellent day-trip opportunities.  irana is also famous for its nightlife and social scene, particularly in the trendy Blloku district, which features cafés, bars, clubs, and restaurants offering local and international cuisine. Live music, DJs, and cultural events keep the city lively until late at night.
